I had a great time at the Minnesota State Fair on Saturday!  I hope you all had an enjoyable and re-energizing weekend also!  Today I am thrilled to bring you my creation for the September ’09 Guest Designer Challenge at Clear Dollar Stamps.  Last month was my first time entering their contest and I had so much fun that I’m back at it for this month’s challenge as well!  This month, Lori gave us an “Either/Or” challenge:  use either the posted color combination (Not Quite Navy, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, with an optional Always Artichoke), or the sketch challenge (see below for sketch), or combine the two.  Not one to ever turn down an opportunity for extra credit, I opted to do a combination of the color combo and the sketch challenge. 🙂

CDSGDC0909sketchI love the color combination that was posted – it has a nice, cozy, fall-like feel cardAug30of2009bto it – and I felt it gave me a wonderful opportunity to create an autumn sunset with my brayer.  And what set would work better with a fall sunset than Pretty Perches?  I love stamp sets that allow me to play around and build my own scenes!

I created a wooden window frame to highlight my outdoor nature scene by first cutting out the frame in Chocolate Chip cardstock with my paper trimmer and then running it through the Big Shot with our Fiskars “woodgrain” embossing template.  I then used direct-to-paper and sponging with Chocolate Chip ink to further bring out the texture.  The frame was then mounted using foam mounting tape to raise it off of the background and bring extra dimension to the card. cardAug30of2009c

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  Please take a moment to leave me a comment so I have the pleasure of getting to know my visitors a little better! 🙂   Here’s to a delightful and fulfilling week for all of us!

Blessings,
