CC791 F4A534 Simple Hello -and- In-Law’s Anniversary | DancesWithHooves Paper Design

Good day, all!

Just stopping in quick to share a set of cards I created last weekend (and one in which I finished throughout the course of the week).ย  Using a couple of the weekly challenges on SplitCoastStampers (Color Challenge and Ways to Free For All), I got a starting point to make an Anniversary card for my in-Laws’ upcoming 50th Anniversary.ย  Since I was doing the stamping on one, I figured I’d make some extras and modify them for more general use.ย  So they’re all similar, yet different. ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope you enjoy!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today – you make my day when you do! ๐Ÿ™‚

Blessings,

Chrissy

MMTPT615 Party for Jean | DancesWithHooves Paper Design

Good morning, all!

The Teapotters of SCS throw weekly “teaparties,” and this past week, the party wasin honor of a good friend of mine.ย  I’m praying that the many cards she will receive help to warm and fill her heart!

These challenges are always to create something inspired by things the recipient likes.ย  Jean likes almost everything, but she’s also a Stampin’ Up collector of sorts, so I wanted to make something bright, cheerful, happy, and fully crafted with SU products!

To make it as cheerful as possible, I grabbed a rainbow of colors, my ink blending brushes, and a set of SU masks and got to work.ย

Oh, and glitter of course. ๐Ÿ™‚

Though I don’t always have time to do a matching envelope and a finished inside to my cards, I love the result when I am able to make it happen!

Splitcoast is also celebrating it’s 800th sketch challenge!ย  WOW!ย  That’s a milestone worth celebrating, and I am so happy to play along with this awesome sketch!

I hope she enjoys it!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today – you make my day when you do! ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy Mother’s Day! no-line floral watercolor | DancesWithHooves Paper Design

Just popping in quick to share a Mother’s Day card – it’s quite simple overall, but took me most of the weekend of working on it here and there between other household duties. ๐Ÿ™‚

My first time trying to no-line watercoloring technique, and I learned a bit as I went along.  In fact, I did two of these (one for my mom, one for my mother-in-law), and by the time I got to the second one I had a much better feel for how to make what I wanted work out on paper.

Finished off with some softness with the vellum frame around the sentiment on the front panel. glitter in the nooks and crannies of the blossoms, and a few Nuvo drops for good measure.

Entering this in WT771, which challenged us, way back in December, to use vellum. I love vellum so I’ve been holding out for a chance to use it! ๐Ÿ™‚

Speaking of mothers, this was also my first chance to make use of a surprise that showed up unexpectedly in an Amazon package a couple of weeks ago – to which I had gotten a text the morning of to call and my mom would explain later. ๐Ÿ™‚

Honestly… when I opened the packaged I was wondering what she was implying about my cooking…

The surprise? A grill press. This is genius. PERFECT for sticking cards under to dry nice and flat – and it leaves no marks! GET ONE! (I guess you have to search pretty hard to make sure you’re finding one without ridges on the bottom that are intended to give coveted grill marks to meat. But since cards are not meat, you need one with a smooth bottom. ๐Ÿ™‚ Don’t say I didn’t warn you!)

Reach For The Stars | DancesWithHooves Paper Design

It’s Tickle a Teapotter time, and this month’s challenge was in honor of the lady who started the mixed media craze. Mixed media isn’t my forte, but I thought I’d give it at least a shot and combine one of my favorite mediums – watercolor – with a new-to-me technique to give it a bit of the look that I think of when I think of mixed media: a whole lot of texture.

I may have overdid the salt a bit, but thankfully the sentiment minimizes that a bit. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I also used this week’s sketch to get my design on a roll.

This one is already in the mail on its way to surprise a fellow American! Usually my Teapotter Tickles go outside of the USA, so this is a treat! I hope she enjoys it!

I opened the blinds to get these photos taken in sunlight, but closed them afterwards to keep the house from boiling inside. Of course, out cat was not pleased with my decision, so he decided to do what he could to still soak up some rays:

Dork. ๐Ÿ˜†
