WSC94 Fluffles Garland

cardAug22of20091a

  • Stamps: Fluffles Garland by Stampendous, Crosshatch by Stampin Up, Basic Shapes by Clear Dollar Stamps
  • Paper: White, Garden Green, Basic Black, Real Red
  • Ink: Garden Green, Real Red
  • Accessories: Versamarker, black embossing powder, SU markers, corner punch, light bulb punch, gold leafing pen, and red, green, and gold glitter glue
  • Technique: embossing

Time for another Christmas card! I got my hands on a 50% off coupon for Michael’s and crossed my fingers that they just might have their Christmas stamps out already. They did and they had one of the Fluffles stamps that has been on cardAug22of20091bmy wish list! I guess it was meant to be! :0) And speaking of meant to be, the stamp fit perfectly in Beate’s Sketch Challenge #94 (WSC94) for this weekend.

I embossed the Fluffles image in black embossing powder and colored with Stampin’ Write Markers in Creamy Caramel, Real Red, and Garden Green. I accented appropriate areas with a gold leafing pen and coordinating colors of glitter glue. I then punched out a few light bulbs, and covered them in glitter as well before attaching them to the garland string.

The background on the Garden Green panel was created with my trusty Clear Dollar Stamps Basic Shapes set and also a random pair of paw stamps. The background on the Real Red panel is Crosshatch from Stampin’ Up. I really wished I had a word window punch for the sentiment to peek through the green panel but I didn’t so this will have to do! :0)cardAug22of20091c

“Christmas in July” 2009

  • Stamps: Peace to the World, Crosshatch
  • Paper: White, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Real Red, cardJuly31of20092aGarden Green, Basic Black/Chocolate Chip
  • Ink: Basic Black, Yoyo Yellow, More Mustard, Garden Green, Bliss Blue, Going Gray, Stazon Black, Versamark
  • Accessories: brads, ribbon, edge distressor, small scallop scissors, aqua painter
  • Technique: watercoloring, distressing

What would July be without my very own bit of “Christmas in July?”  I waited until the last possible day of the month, but I finally created a pair of Christmas cards!  (I had a goal to do 10 Christmas cards a month beginning back in January, but I cardJuly31of20092bnever was in the mood to make any, so I guess I’m a bit behind on that one!)  Bear with me here – this card actually WAS created on July 31st, but I didn’t have time to photograph it or post it until now.  Please forgive me! :0)

Anyway, I decided to make a pair of cards as when you already have all the supplies out to do one card, it really only takes an extra few minutes to complete another of the same.  In this case, I used a few scraps of cardstock for matting things so I ended up using Basic Black on one card and Chocolate Chip in its place on the other.  I think I like the effect of the Chocolate Chip better with the rest ofcardJuly31of20091a the color scheme!  Also, the Real Red that was used was scraps from previous projects (we’re down to one full sheet in our stock supply – yikes!), so that’s why I placed that differently for each card.  The result is two similar cards that will both be a welcome addition to my nearly non-existant stockpile of Christmas cards for this year!

I began by first stamping the image of the lion in lamb in Stazon ink on white cardstock.  I then used my AquaPainter dipped in pools of ink (made by pressing the lids of my stamp pads down into the ink) to color the image.

cardJuly31of20091bFor additional interest, the Garden Green panels on both cards were edge distressed using my distressing tool, as well as the Real Red panel on the card with the black bar.  I added small red bows to each card to bring as much of a Christmas theme into the card as possible, and also added red brads to the first card.  The background on both the Certainly Celery and Bashful Blue panels was stamped in Versamark so it would not be overbearing.

SC204 ‘Tis the Season Wreath card

  • Stamps: Inkadinkado 98325 (Wreath); Northwoods Rubber Stamps “‘Tis the Season” and “Season’s Greetings background;” SU! “Crosshatch”
  • Paper: Real Red, Certainly Celery, Garden Green, Bashful Blue, white

SC204 'Tis the Season Wreath card
    SC204
  • Ink: Basic Black, SU Markers (Real red, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, Garden Green)
  • Accesories: Martha Stewart bow punch, matting tape, red and blue glitter, Stamp-a-ma-jig

This is my submission for Wednesday’s Sketch Challege #204 (SC204) over at SCS. I picked up the gorgeous wreath stamp (by Inkadinkado) at Michael’s yesterday in the clearance Christmas stamps! Yay! When I picked it up, this color combo immediately came to mind, and I was super excited to see that it fit perfectly into this week’s sketch challenge. Sorry that the colors look a little dull in the picture – I couldn’t seem to get the lighting in the dining room to cooperate with me on this card! In real life, the colors are much more vibrant!

Started by using SU markers in Real Red, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, and Garden Green, coloring with only one color at a time, and then stamping it. Used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the stamp perfectly. Stamped “‘Tis the Season” sentiment (from Northwoods Rubber Stamps) in Basic Black ink below the wreath image. Added red glitter to red portions of image. Punched bow with Martha Stewart punch in Real Red cardstock and covered with red glitter. Mounted image on panel of Garden Green cardstock. Also mounted Bashful Blue panel on Garden Green and added a stripe of blue glitter on both top and bottom.

Mounted the entire works first on a panel of Certainly Celery cardstock (stamped with “Season’s Greetings” stamp from Northwoods Rubber Stamps in Certainly Celery ink), and then on a panel of Real Red cardstock (stamped with Crosshatch background stamp with Real Red ink).

Thank you so much for looking and please let me know what you think! 🙂

SC202 Bearing Gifts

  • Stamps: Stampendous “Wise Siamese,” SU Crosshatch
  • Paper: Bashful Blue, Garden Green, Ruby Red

    SCS202 Bearing Gifts
    SCS202 Bearing Gifts
  • Ink: Bliss Blue, Garden Green, Ruby Red, Versamark, SU! Markers
  • Accessories: White ribbon, black embossing powder, sponge
  • Technique: embossing, sponging, sewing

I created this yesterday for last Wednesday’s Sketch Challenge (SC202) over on Splitcoast Stampers.  I tweaked it just a bit by rotating the middle square to sit on one of its corners.

Cats and sentiment are embossed with black embossing powder and then colored with various Stampin’ Up Markers.  I borrowed this stamp from a good friend of the family who is heavily into stamping also.  She’s got quite the collection and is SO generous to let me borrow from her “stash” if there is ever something I need. THANK YOU JEAN!!!  To get a matching ribbon, I sponged Ruby Red ink onto white satin ribbon.  Also sewed across the upper portion of the bashful blue panel as I hadn’t used our sewing machine in a LONG time and told myself to make use of it yesterday.  Not sure if it really goes with the rest of the card but it’s on there anyway! :0)

  • Ink: Real Red & Garden Green pads and markers, Creamy Caramel marker, Versamark
  • Accessories: Black embossing powder, red & green glitter, square punches
  • Technique: embossing

Ok, a little late again on this challenge, but at least I got it done before this week’s sketch challenge is posted!  This was done for Sketch Challenge 200 (SC200) on Splitcoast Stampers. I picked this cute little stamp up at Michael’s from their 40% off rubber stamp sale this weekend.  I saw him a month or so ago there and wanted him but was patient enough to wait for a sale!  Now I want a whole collection of “Fluffles the Cat” stamps – I see there are several!!! SO cute!

Thanks for looking!
