Another design sample as part of the Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge Guest Design Team! I have participated in these challenges basically since I found SCS, and to have been given the amazing opportunity to contribute a card to the weekly inspiration roundup that goes along with it is humbling and I am incredibly grateful, excited, and, well… nervous!
Current and past sketch challenges, as well as all of the details, can be found here. Past sketch challenge design team samples I have created can be found here and also in my gallery on SplitCoast.
Without further ado, here is my card for this week’s sketch challenge at SCS!
Ugh. So I have to admit, my creative mojo has been mia lately. I didn’t have time to even think about participating in last week’s sketch challenge, amidst celebrating Mother’s Day (twice) and a milestone birthday party for my Dad (we pulled off the surprise! Phew!), but to be perfectly honest, I was OK with that… I just didn’t want to play with my stamps!
But I certainly didn’t want to miss two sketches in a row, and with multiple occasions requiring cards fast approaching, I dove in this weekend to crank something out, albeit a bit halfheartedly. Perhaps the rainy, cold weather should have made me more eager to be inside, but it is May, after all (at least that’s what the calendar claims!), and frankly, I want to be out covered in my favorite kind of glitter… horsehair! 😀
Today’s card is for an upcoming wedding, though as of the present I’m not sure whose… we have three coming up, and I designed this with two of the weddings in mind! (Maybe I should have made two of them?!) Though I am leaning towards this being the card for a couple getting married the third weekend of June… through the generous sharing of the soon-to-be mother-in-law, whom I work with, I have learned that the bridesmaid dresses are going to be shades of pink, mauve, and purple, so I was really thinking of this bride when I started out with the card. Interestingly enough, my husband works with the groom! We are both looking forward to their special day! ♡
With the overcast skies, my photos turned out quite detestable, but I hope you can gain a somewhat decent feel for what the card looks like in person. (I’m not sure why there appears to be indents in that lower left corner in the photo… that doesn’t show up in person! Argh)
As much as I didn’t really want to start this card, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out! Clean and simple, with black accents to channel tuxedos, and pink floral and washes of glitter to channel the bride! And a perfect fit for SCS’s May Fan Club Central Theme – “Memories & Milestones.” The moment God blessed me with a husband at our “I Do,” it became a milestone that will forever be one of my most treasured memories (followed closely by the memory of when he asked me to be his bride,of course), and I pray the same will be true for this wonderful couple!
In addition, for Clean and Simple Challenge CAS534, “no coloring,” this silhouette-and-background-stamped creation fits the bill! 🙂
Last year I was accepted into the Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP) and ended up reaching level 1 certification by last fall. This year, I’m working on level 2! I recently finished their Masking Unleashed course, and this card is also my final project for that AWESOME class. I learned so many things from the instructor – including the best way to peel a post-it note to prevent warping (I kid you not – but it was something I hadn’t come across nor discovered before!), and was inspired to jump right in and put some of my newfound respect for the masking technique to good use. I can’t wait to try more of the impressive techniques shared in this course!
THANKS so much for dropping by! I hope you’ll take the time to say hello!
