Happy National Find a Rainbow Day! I don’t know about you, but I think the surest fix to a dreary day is rainbows and anything featuring their lovely spectrum of all of God’s colors.

Sometimes, I come across a design that fills me with so much joy, I can’t help but re-create it to spread that same joy to those I care about. Such was the case when I came across this adorable card by Jeanne on Splitcoast for color challenge CC821 last week. I felt SO happy and joyful when I saw it, I knew I must try to evoke that same feeling in one of my own designs.

It’s that time of year again – time for coming up with something perfect for my Father-In-Law’s birthday! Would you believe he still has the first card I made for him on their refrigerator?
Making a card for him is a big deal. I like making cards for everybody and anybody, don’t get me wrong, but when I get to make one for someone that appreciates it that much, well, it’s a whole new ballgame.

Just popping in quick to share a Mother’s Day card – it’s quite simple overall, but took me most of the weekend of working on it here and there between other household duties. 🙂
My first time trying to no-line watercoloring technique, and I learned a bit as I went along. In fact, I did two of these (one for my mom, one for my mother-in-law), and by the time I got to the second one I had a much better feel for how to make what I wanted work out on paper.
Finished off with some softness with the vellum frame around the sentiment on the front panel. glitter in the nooks and crannies of the blossoms, and a few Nuvo drops for good measure.
Entering this in WT771, which challenged us, way back in December, to use vellum. I love vellum so I’ve been holding out for a chance to use it! 🙂
Speaking of mothers, this was also my first chance to make use of a surprise that showed up unexpectedly in an Amazon package a couple of weeks ago – to which I had gotten a text the morning of to call and my mom would explain later. 🙂
Honestly… when I opened the packaged I was wondering what she was implying about my cooking…
The surprise? A grill press. This is genius. PERFECT for sticking cards under to dry nice and flat – and it leaves no marks! GET ONE! (I guess you have to search pretty hard to make sure you’re finding one without ridges on the bottom that are intended to give coveted grill marks to meat. But since cards are not meat, you need one with a smooth bottom. 🙂 Don’t say I didn’t warn you!)
Thank you so much for visiting my blog today – you make my day when you do! 🙂
Blessings,
Chrissy
