Clean and Simple Thank You Cards with Avery Elle All of Us| DancesWithHooves Paper Design

I can hardly believe it’s been three weeks since my birthday already! So much has happened since then, including my beloved horse’s own birthday. 🙂

This is a set of thank you cards for the many sweet people who went out of their way to bless me on or around my birthday – and as I wanted to get them in the mail straight away, I needed a clean and simple card to get the job done fast.

F4A536 In Memory of Tucker | DancesWithHooves Paper Design

Dropping in with a quick card made yesterday for a friend of the family who had to say goodbye to one of her beloved horses Friday.  It was a hard loss for her (it always is, but even harder when the end comes with a hard-fought effort to save a life first before having to make the decision to end the suffering), and though I don’t like making sympathy cards, as always, I think they are some of the most important to share with hurting hearts. Being a fellow horseperson, I understand the pain in her heart right now all too well.

Entering this in Free for All Challenge F4A536 – Sparkle, Shimmer, or ShineInside sentiment says “Our thoughts and prayers are with you” (Avery Elle).

On a happier note, I got to spend most of my day with my own sweet equine Friday, as he got to see his favorite vet for his annual spring appointment. Here he is waking up from the anesthetic (he had his teeth done also) – too cute not to share!!!! 🙂

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today – you make my day when you do! 🙂

Happy birthday Roger (inspired by nature masculine card)

DancesWithHooves Paper Design - masculine tamarack tree birthdayToday I finally got some time in my craft space to work on some looming projects.  We all have those people who we feel obligated to give handmade cards to vs purchased, and I’ve got several such must-makes that fall this time of year, topped off by the ~25-30 Christmas cards that I try to ensure are handmade (the rest of our Christmas card list I buy for 😉😶 ).

This particular one is for my father-in-law’s birthday this month.

For Anita’s Falliday Fest tree challenge: my husband just LOVES it when the tamaracks turn golden yellow in the fall, and he says his dad enjoys the turn, too. I usually draw inspiration from nature for Roger’s cards, and I saw it from behind the windshield on one of my drives this fall- the perfect contrast between the turned tamaracks and the bold pines they were nestled behind. I did my best to recreate the detail in the trees by first inking my stamp and then adding interest by a bit of water spritzed on the wet ink before I stamped them.

Additionally, the pines are accented by some subtle glitter to help them stand out from behind the burlap ribbon

Lately, where there’s glitter you’ll find foam on my cards, to add dimension, substance, and interest to my designs. I just LOVE what you can do with some cheap craft foam and glue.  This card has the statement sentiment die cut out of foam also (adhered to the cardstock die cut sentiment with glue), as well as the main panel lifted off the craft backdrop with foam.

And of course, to finish the inside:

Additional SplitCoastStampers challenges I’m entering:
For CAS559: my trees go vertical, though I’m thinking with the die cut top panel, perhaps I went too far for this to be considered “CAS?” Ugh! I’m not sure anymore!
For CAS554: this card is definitely “for the boys.” 😉

Thanks so much for looking!!!!
